A movie discovery site built on one idea: ratings should be transparent. Instead of guessing what to watch, you get clear, consistent rankings powered by our TML Score, an open formula that blends critic and audience signals.
What we do
We help people find what to watch and settle the "what is the best..." debates. Beyond the basics, we publish original, data-driven rankings you will not find elsewhere:
- Underrated movies by genre: critically strong films that never found a big audience.
- Director rankings: every film by the most iconic directors, ranked best to worst.
- Genre guides, actor and director profiles, and a continually updated catalog of thousands of titles.
The TML Score
Every movie on the site gets a TML Score from 0 to 100. It is a transparent blend of the IMDb rating and the Metascore, with a small boost for high-quality films that had a small box office (our "hidden gems"). Because the formula is public, our rankings are consistent and checkable, not a black box.

Our data
Our catalog covers thousands of movies, actors, and directors, drawing on public rating signals from IMDb (audience) and Metacritic (critics). We refresh scores as the underlying data changes, so a film's ranking reflects how it is regarded today.

TopMovieList is an independent entertainment platform operated by MB Technologies LLC, a digital media company based in California. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any studio, actor, or production company.
How we keep the lights on
The site is free to use. We earn revenue through advertising and affiliate programs (including Amazon Associates), at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are disclosed, and this is what lets us keep the catalog and rankings free and open.
